Diversity
The term diversity refers to a heterogeneous workforce with members from a variety of ethnicities, age groups, and genders. In U.S. American usage, diversity practices have developed in the context of historical political issues of exclusion and racial preference with strong enforcement of legal requirements (compliance) for equal opportunity employment. Federal law prohibits discrimination based on sex, race, age, religion, ethnic group, national origin, or physical disabilities with regard to any aspect of employment. Minority members of the workforce tend to adapt to majority practices in the workplace culture. Efforts to effectively leverage the strengths of a diverse workforce are currently called
inclusion.
